“It is with a heavy heart that we advise the unexpected and tragic passing of our dear colleague and friend Dr Alison Green. This loss has deeply affected all of us. We extend our sincerest condolences to her family and friends and ask for your understanding as we work to honour her memory.”

According to New South Wales Police, emergency services were called after Dr Green crashed while riding a bicycle down a steep hill. She was treated on scene but was pronounced deceased. Investigations are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Dr Green was previously a member of the RACGP Victoria Council and contributed extensively to medical education, supervising the next generation of GPs.

Dr Anita Muñoz, Chair of RACGP Victoria, described her loss as leaving “a really big void”:

“Alison was highly trained, an expert GP, and gave generously of her time to the community and the college. She provided considered, thoughtful advice and was deeply respected. Her contributions to rural medicine and medical education were extraordinary.”

Patients and colleagues have shared heartfelt messages on social media, describing Dr Green as an “amazing doctor” who “took the time to listen and cared deeply” about her patients.

Dr Muñoz added that Dr Green’s impact extended far beyond her professional achievements:

“It’s a tragedy that she passed so unexpectedly. Her character, generosity, and dedication to her community will be sorely missed, and it’s important to celebrate her life even amidst the grief.”
