Resources and training available for the new Aged Care Act
21 May 2025
The new Aged Care Act starts from 1 July 2025. It will place the rights of older people at the centre of the aged care system.
Under the new Act, aged care providers and workers will be stewards of a system that is better regulated, more transparent and more accountable.
A range of resources and training is available to help support the sector prepare for the new Act.
These resources will help providers and workers understand what’s changing and how it will affect their systems, obligations and responsibilities.
For providers
The Priority Actions List will help providers prepare for the changes under the new Act.
This practical checklist outlines the steps providers must take to be ready for the new Act, including:
- informing older people receiving services of their rights and protections
- updating service agreements, digital systems, and complaints processes
- ensuring their workforce is trained and understands new obligations
- transitioning to the Support at Home program (for home care providers only)
- meeting new financial and regulatory requirements.
These actions will help providers stay on track to meet their new obligations under the new Act while continuing to deliver safe, high-quality and respectful care.
