Record Fellowship Exam Success for RACGP

26 Nov 2025

More than 800 future GPs have now demonstrated the clinical abilities required to deliver high-quality care in general practice. According to the latest exam report, the 2025.2 CCE attracted 31.4% more candidates than the previous cycle, making it the biggest CCE the RACGP has delivered to date.

Across two exam weekends in October (18–19 and 25–26), 1006 candidates sat the assessment and 813 passed, resulting in a pass rate of 80.82%. This represents a significant increase compared to the 2025.1 cycle, in which 611 candidates were successful.

Dr Rebecca Lock, the RACGP’s National Assessment Advisor for the CCE, said the results reflect the high standard of clinical capability within the upcoming GP workforce.

“We now have another 813 doctors ready to progress to Fellowship and provide ongoing primary care to communities across Australia,” she said. “The CCE mirrors real general practice scenarios and assesses how candidates manage the growing complexity seen in everyday practice.”

The CCE is the final assessment required for Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP). Conducted online, it follows the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and the Key Feature Problem (KFP) exams.
Successful candidates in the 2025.2 cycle showed strong performance across core domains, including communication, clinical reasoning, diagnosis, management and professionalism.

Dr Lock encouraged prospective candidates to strengthen their preparation by working in broad general practice settings and practising cases under timed conditions.

“In every consultation, think about how you apply the skills assessed in the exam — from active listening and understanding patient concerns to developing shared management plans and providing clear safety-netting,” she advised.
She also recommended becoming familiar with technical requirements, including Zoom functions, and utilising the RACGP’s exam support tools.

Dr Lock acknowledged the significant contribution of examiners, educators and the wider assessment team.
“Our examiners deliver each case with consistency and professionalism, and our teams work tirelessly to support every exam cycle,” she said. “As candidate numbers continue to rise, the CCE continues to adapt as a modern and agile assessment.”

The 2026.1 CCE will take place on 13–14 June 2026, with results to be released on 22 July 2026. RACGP members interested in becoming examiners can find more information on the college website.
