RACGP Hackathon 2026 EOIs Open as College Highlights Key Updates for GPs

27 Nov 2025

The RACGP Hackathon 2026 will run from 13–15 March in Sydney. Over three days, participants will work in teams to develop practical digital health solutions aimed at improving patient care and supporting GPs. Participants can build skills, expand professional networks, and compete for prizes to further develop their ideas. EOIs are available online.

Additional updates for GPs

  • Scam awareness: In partnership with Services Australia and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA), the RACGP is promoting resources to help health professionals protect their Provider Digital Access (PRODA) accounts from scammers seeking Medicare benefits. A new fact sheet provides practical tips for safeguarding accounts.

  • Medicare compliance Q&A: Following a July webinar on Medicare compliance, the RACGP has published written responses to unanswered questions in consultation with DoHDA’s Benefits Integrity Division. These resources are available on the RACGP website.

  • WONCA Five Star Doctor Award: Nominations are open until 2 January 2026. The award recognises GPs who demonstrate excellence as care providers, decision-makers, communicators, community leaders, and managers. Regional winners are eligible for the global award, presented at the WONCA World Conference.

  • Electronic National Residential Medication Charts (eNRMC): Updates to electronic prescribing in residential aged care include vendor conformance milestones and transitional arrangements until 1 April 2026. Clinicians are advised to manage potential risks associated with non-conformant systems.

  • Mandatory reporting webinar: The RACGP will host a webinar on 2 December (7.30–8.30 pm AEDT) in collaboration with RACGP Specific Interests and the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse. The session will provide practical guidance on mandatory reporting requirements for child sexual abuse, offering 1 CPD hour.
