Public Consultation Open: Written Submissions and Feedback on the Thriving Kids Initiative
09 Sep 2025
Inquiry Launched into Thriving Kids Initiative
On 2 September 2025, the Minister for Health and Ageing, Mark Butler, referred an inquiry into the Thriving Kids initiative to the House Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Disability.
The initiative aims to improve how children under 8 years old with mild to moderate developmental concerns or disability are identified and supported. Instead of creating new systems, Thriving Kids will build on and expand existing mainstream and community services, making it easier for families to access support in places they already use.
Children with permanent and significant disability will continue to be supported through the NDIS.
How to get involved
-
Written submissions: The Committee is inviting submissions that respond to the terms of reference. The deadline is Friday, 3 October 2025.
-
Community survey: Families and carers can also share their experiences through a short survey about accessing support services. The survey will remain open until Friday, 10 October 2025.
More details on the terms of reference, how to make a submission, and access to the survey can be found on the Parliament of Australia website.
