New Timeframe for Finalising Support at Home Service Agreements

New Timeframe for Finalising Support at Home Service Agreements

05 Nov 2025

Providers are reminded of the new timeframe for finalising Support at Home service agreements under the Aged Care (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Rules 2025.

Key updates include:

  1. 30-Day Window for Initiation: After a participant’s confirmed contribution rate is calculated, providers have 30 days to contact the participant and begin finalising or varying their service agreement.

  2. 90-Day Window for Participant Agreement: Participants then have 90 days to sign the service agreement.

Providers are encouraged to prioritise finalising agreements, especially for those participants who:

  • Already know their contribution rate (e.g., full pensioners)

  • Have received an estimated contribution rate from Services Australia or used the Support at Home fee estimator.

For participants who are still waiting for their confirmed contribution rate, providers may negotiate alternative arrangements for pricing and participant contributions.

If a participant does not sign the service agreement within the 90-day period, services may be ceased. Providers are required to notify participants in writing 14 days before ceasing services.

For further information, providers can access resources on:

It is essential to ensure all service agreements are finalised within the set timeframe to avoid any disruption in services.
