New bulk-billing calculator launched

The online tool takes into account differences between practice types, locations, the proportion of billings kept by the practice, and the kinds of consultations provided. It is linked to the new Bulk Billed Practice Incentive Payment (BBPIP), which begins on 1 November 2025.
By answering a few initial questions, users are given figures pre-filled with average data from similar practices. These can then be adjusted to reflect the practice’s own activity, such as:

the Modified Monash Model classification (location)

the proportion of billings going to the practice

the number and type of eligible services provided each year

the current billing model
-
the percentage of services provided to concession card holders or children under 16.
The Government has cautioned that the calculator is intended only as a guide. The accuracy of the results depends on the accuracy of the data entered, and practices are advised to seek professional advice before relying on the estimates.
