National Consistent Payments (NCP) Updates – Semester 2, 2025

National Consistent Payments (NCP) Updates – Semester 2, 2025

17 Oct 2025

Key updates include:

  • Pro-rata payments for registrars undertaking part-time training.

  • Payments for registrars training across multiple Modified Monash Model (MM) locations.

  • Case scenarios demonstrating how payments are calculated.

  • A glossary explaining terminology used in GP training.

Note: Registrars training in multiple MM locations during a term may receive separate payments for each location instead of a single advance payment.

Modified Monash Model (MM) reclassifications:

  • From Semester 2, 2025, MM reclassifications have been implemented following the announcement by Minister Butler in Strengthening Medicare: more doctors and larger Medicare payments for dozens of communities.

  • 17 locations have been reclassified as more rural, improving eligibility for higher NCP payments (for example, some MM1 locations are now MM2).

  • Registrars can check the MM classification of their training location via the Health Workforce Locator.

Advice for current participants:

  • Contact your college to understand how these changes may affect your payments.

  • Colleges may also provide support through their flexible payments policy.
