More medicines available for 60-day prescriptions
05 Mar 2024
From 1 March 2024, the range of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines available on 60-day prescriptions expanded. This will give more Australians twice the amount of their medication on a single prescription. Now almost 200 medicines are available for a 60-day prescription.
The new medicines now available for a 60-day prescription will support patients who live with a stable ongoing health condition such as:
- androgen deficiency
- arthritis
- breast cancer
- bipolar disorder
- diabetes
- epilepsy
- hypothyroidism
- incontinence
- menopause
- migraine
- prostate cancer
- prostate enlargement
When the roll out of medicines is complete by September 2024, around 300 medicines will be available for a 60-day prescription.
This will help more than 6 million Australian's who need regular medication.
