More healthcare services coming to local pharmacies in Victoria
24 Sep 2025
The program, which has already delivered 58,000 services, allows people to get treatment for urinary tract infections (UTIs), some skin conditions, contraceptive pill resupplies, and travel vaccines without needing to see a doctor first.
Originally trialled as the Community Pharmacist Pilot in more than 800 pharmacies, the program is now permanent, with the Victorian Government investing $18 million to expand it further.
An evaluation of the first year of the pilot showed that women made up 84% of users, with over 24,000 UTI consultations and 13,000 contraceptive pill resupplies. The expanded program will provide even more options for women seeking contraceptive care.
Over the next two years, new health conditions will be gradually added, with the program eventually offering 22 in-pharmacy services to make healthcare more accessible for everyone.
