Letters to Home Care Recipients: Preparing for the Support at Home Program

Each letter includes important information about:

  • The recipient’s estimated financial contribution to aged care

  • Details of unspent HCP funds

  • Guidance on how to prepare with their provider for the transition to Support at Home

A Support at Home booklet for older people, families and carers has also been included in the mail-out.

Letters are being distributed through mid-October, with content tailored according to the recipient’s pension status and whether they were approved for an HCP before or after 12 September 2024.

Copies of the letters are available on the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.

Services Australia has also released a Support at Home eKit, designed to help providers access estimated contribution rates, discuss estimates with older people, and answer common questions.
