After six years of advocacy by the RACGP and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), rural generalism will now be formally recognised as a specialist field within general practice.
RACGP Rural is hosting a webinar to explain what this means for members. Associate Professor Michael Clements (RACGP Rural Chair), Dr Karin Jodlowski-Tan (National Clinical Head of Rural Pathways), and Dr Ken Wanguhu (RACGP Rural Censor) will discuss the recent announcements and their implications.

Electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) update
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA) has released a factsheet for prescribers on the transition of eNRMC systems to full electronic prescribing in residential aged care.

Conformant eNRMC systems will be available by October 2025.

The new system will support electronic prescribing and include enhanced safety features.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) update
The DVA has expanded the list of professionals who can diagnose anxiety and depressive disorders for liability claims to now include treating clinical psychologists and treating GPs.
