Hearing Services Program provider notice 2025-2 – Revalidated services changes

From 22 April 2025 Revalidated Service Requests must include supporting evidence, and will expire three months after submission.

The Program is making changes to the Revalidated Service Request process to streamline approvals and ensure requests comply with Program requirements. 

A recent audit revealed that a large proportion of revalidated service claims lack sufficient supporting evidence. Responses to submissions are delayed by the program having to seek extra information from providers to support a decision.  

As revalidated services are based on client need, the program expects providers to deliver these services promptly after receiving approval.

Changes 

Revalidated service approval expiry 

Approved revalidated refittings must take place within three (3) months of the date of submission of the Revalidated Service Request.  

Supporting Evidence Requirement 

All Revalidated Service Requests must include supporting evidence. This change aims to: 

  • reduce follow up requests for extra information from Service Providers; 
  • speed up the assessment process; 
  • minimise recoveries of non-compliant claims. 

Submission Process 

Preparing Your Request 

When submitting a Revalidated Service Request, please: 

  • Prepare supporting evidence as a single PDF document. 
  • Label the document as follows: Client Given name CLIENT FAMILY NAME - Voucher Number - Revalidated Service Request.pdf. 

The evidence should meet the legislated requirements in the Schedule of Service Items and Fees.
