Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Surgeons) Amendment Bill 2023 introduced into Queensland Parliament
20 Apr 2023
If passed, the amendments in the Bill will mean only those with specialist surgical training will be able to legally call themselves a ‘surgeon’.
Background
Queensland is the host jurisdiction for the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. This means any proposed changes agreed by Australian Health Ministers need to be introduced into Queensland Parliament for debate and passage. Western Australia will also need to introduce an amendment bill into their parliament.
The Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Surgeons) Amendment Bill has been referred to the Health and Environment Committee for scrutiny.
