GP25 Conference to Bring General Practitioners Together in Brisbane
12 Nov 2025
RACGP President Dr Michael Wright said the event is a vital opportunity for GPs to network, exchange ideas, and influence the future of general practice.
“Recent Medicare changes and the pressures on general practices make it more important than ever for GPs to share their experiences and have their voices heard,” Dr Wright told newsGP.
The three-day program includes workshops, presentations, and new sessions such as:
-
Activities and networking for 15 Specific Interest Groups
-
A rural-focused session: Beyond the announcement: Building the future of rural generalism
-
A tribute to Professor John Murtagh
-
A Research Hub featuring 2025 RACGP Academic Post Program participants
Pre-conference events on 13 November include hands-on workshops, the 68th Annual General Meeting, and the Convocation.
Keynote speakers include Chief Medical Officer Professor Michael Kidd, Human Rights Commissioner Lorraine Finlay, journalist Leigh Sales, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leaders Professor James Ward and Dr Justin Coleman. Federal and Queensland Health Ministers will also speak to attendees.
The theme, “Brighter Future Together,” highlights the college’s focus on strengthening the primary care workforce, supporting professional development, and promoting high-quality general practice across Australia.
Dr Wright will also join an international panel with representatives from Hong Kong, Canada, and WONCA to discuss lessons from overseas on implementing health policy in Australia.
“GP25 is a chance for GPs to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on shaping a strong and sustainable future for general practice,” he said.
