“Government Launches Framework to Support Early Childhood Intervention”
03 Oct 2025
The National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention explains the key principles and goals that make early childhood intervention services effective for children and their families.
Developed by the University of Melbourne for the Australian Government, the Framework was created with input from researchers and the disability sector.
For parents, carers, and families, the Framework helps explain:
-
How early childhood intervention works
-
What to expect from practitioners
-
How services can be tailored to a child’s individual needs
For practitioners, it provides guidance on:
-
Delivering best-practice support to children and families
-
Understanding the principles behind early childhood intervention
-
Using evidence-based approaches in decision-making
The Framework reinforces that every child in Australia has the right to grow up in a family and community that supports their health, development, and wellbeing.
Families and practitioners can read the Framework and access supporting resources to better understand and implement early childhood intervention.
