Care@home supporting Tasmanians this winter

The Care@home program provides vital virtual care to people experiencing and recovering from respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Care@home has supported more than 47,000 Tasmanians since it was first established as COVID@home in December 2021 and has proven to be a valuable service to our community.

The program is staffed 24/7 by a multidisciplinary team who provide safe and supportive virtual care at home for people needing assistance recovering from their illness, as well as helping to facilitate access to antivirals for those who are eligible.

The team can check in on patients via SMS, conduct phone or video calls and for more severe cases, can provide a virtual monitoring kit for people to check their heart rate, oxygen levels and temperature, monitored through a provided smartphone.

Importantly, this treatment is allowing patients to stay in their homes to recover and receive appropriate, individualised and professional advice and further assistance if needed.

Tasmanians are also reminded to prepare, plan and protect themselves, their families and their colleagues by rolling up their sleeve and getting vaccinated.

If you test positive to COVID-19 or other respiratory viruses and are in need of support, you can call 1800 973 363 or enrol online: Care@home | Tasmanian Department of Health
