Carbon monoxide poisoning at Thebarton

It follows 16 people presenting to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in the early hours of this morning after visiting the ice skating facility at Thebarton.
Most patients are being observed while some have required oxygen therapy. They are all in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) crews have been on site at the arena overnight and this morning. The incident is continuing to be managed.
The effects of carbon monoxide are generally transient, with symptoms resolving once individuals are no longer exposed to the chemical. However, some people who attended the facility yesterday may still be experiencing symptoms.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, tiredness, nausea and in more severe cases, shortness of breath.
Young children, people who are pregnant, older people and those with chronic illnesses such as heart and lung disease, are at increased risk of health impacts from carbon monoxide poisoning. People who are pregnant and very young infants are advised to seek a medical review today regardless of symptoms.
