Availability of salbutamol nebules - Important update for health professionals 2024
14 Mar 2024
The shortage did not apply to salbutamol inhalation solution 5mg/2.5mL (Ventolin Nebules). Salbutamol Cipla 2.5mg/2.5mL brand remains unavailable.
Salbutamol nebules are indicated for the relief of bronchospasm in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and for acute prophylaxis against exercise-induced asthma or in other situations known to induce bronchospasm.
The Pharmaceutical Benefits Schedule (PBS) restricts the prescription of salbutamol nebules to patients with asthma and COPD unable to use an oral pressurised inhalation device via a spacer.
