Australia’s newborn bloodspot screening programs to include new conditions
15 May 2024
We have been working to support the consistency of Australian newborn bloodspot screening programs and expand the number of conditions these programs screen for. To find out more, see our fact sheet on progress.
On 19 April 2024, Australia's health ministers agreed to national implementation of 6 conditions that are currently not consistently screened across jurisdictions. To find out more, view the Health Ministers Meeting communique.
States and territories will now get ready to implement this screening in their programs.
