AMA signs open letter in support of the Voice to Parliament
28 Sep 2023
The AMA has joined more than 125 health and medical organisations in an open letter outlining collective support for a Voice to Parliament.
The open letter was published on Monday in various newspapers, including The Australian, the Adelaide Advertiser and the Launceston Examiner.
In a media interview on Monday, AMA President Professor Steve Robson said having an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice in how healthcare is delivered would help improve the delivery of health services and outcomes for Indigenous Australians.
“We see the evidence around us — the best health outcomes are when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a direct hand in the way that the healthcare system is set up and delivered for them,” Professor Robson told ABC News Radio.
