AMA responds to closure of the Veterans’ MATES program
22 Feb 2024
The AMA is advocating for a new program to replace the Veterans’ MATES program, following a decision to end the program.
The AMA understands the decision to end the program given concerns about data privacy but supports the development of a replacement program that considers concerns raised about the privacy of sensitive healthcare information.
The Veterans’ MATES program was designed to support the quality use of medicines for veterans, providing educational materials to health professionals and veterans, and individualised medicine advice to general practitioners.
