Tasmanians Invited to Have Their Say on Next Mental Health Strategy
23 Mar 2026
A draft discussion paper has been released to guide public feedback. It outlines the current state and national context of mental health, reviews progress under Rethink 2020, and suggests key themes for the next strategy.
The final strategy will aim to create a more inclusive, coordinated, and person-centred mental health system. It will focus on early support, prevention, and stronger services across the care continuum.
The government is encouraging feedback from all Tasmanians, including:
-
People with lived experience of mental ill-health
-
Family, friends, and carers
-
Community members interested in wellbeing
-
People working in mental health
-
Those involved through schools, workplaces, sporting clubs, religious groups, or other community settings
There are no right or wrong responses. Feedback can be short or detailed. A shorter summary of the discussion paper is also available on the Department of Health consultation website.
Consultation closes 1 May 2026. To have your say, visit The Next Tasmanian Mental Health Strategy page.
