It is never too late in pregnancy to stop or cut down drinking alcohol as this will increase the chance of having a healthy baby.
No alcohol is safe during pregnancy.
Support your partner, daughter, sister, cousin, friend to not drink during pregnancy.
If a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, it can lead to:
- miscarriage
- stillbirth
- damage to cell growth
- life-long disabilities from brain damage known as FASD.
Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is an umbrella term used to describe abnormalities that can be caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
FASD has no cure and is entirely preventable.
