RACGP Seeks GPs for New Workforce Committee

GP Workforce, set up to tackle workforce challenges in general practice across Australia.

The committee will:

  • Advise on workforce planning, funding and distribution issues.

  • Guide GP training pathways, Fellowship and careers.

  • Suggest policies to attract GP registrars.

  • Monitor progress on the National Workforce Strategy (2025–30).

  • Work with stakeholders to align priorities with the college’s strategy.

Committee members will meet twice in person and twice online each year, with extra meetings if needed. The chair will also attend fortnightly executive meetings to keep initiatives moving.

RACGP Vice President Dr Ramya Raman said this is a “critical time” for general practice, and the committee will help turn workforce planning into real outcomes for communities.
