RACGP report highlights urgent need for increased Medicare funding
09 Oct 2025
AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen attended the launch of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) Health of the Nation report at Parliament House on Tuesday.
The report reveals that the average GP consultation now lasts nearly 20 minutes, reflecting the increasingly complex health needs of patients.
These findings highlight the urgent need for greater government support through Medicare to fund longer GP consultations — a key focus of the AMA’s Modernise Medicare campaign.
