The dinner, also a Labor Party fundraiser, included around three dozen guests, including Professor Trent Twomey, according to the Australian Financial Review.
RACGP President Dr Michael Wright criticised the event, saying it sends the wrong message while patients struggle to afford healthcare.
“GPs focus on evidence and patient care, not buying political access,” he said. The RACGP recently held GPs@Parliament to advocate for better funding and patient rebates, meeting with ministers and MPs to discuss practical solutions.
