Primary Health North district hospitals achieve accreditation

Primary Health North district hospitals achieve accreditation

26 Jun 2025

The eight Primary Health North district hospitals achieved accreditation under the National Safety and Quality in Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, with a short notice assessment (SNAP).

SNAP for accreditation to the NSQHS Standards ensures the outcome reflects day to day practices, identifies gaps and supports health service organisations to improve safety and quality systems and processes.

The assessors made particular note of the following:

  • “Very impressed” with consumer participation and good point of care involvement with patients across the hospitals
  • Audit schedule is “comprehensive and extremely well maintained”
  • “Impressed” with ‘gloves off’ project and assessors felt it should be implemented in their own hospitals
  • There was very strong medication management governance demonstrated across in all facilities
  • “A particular highlight” was seeing Quality Boards and CARE Boards with data and information displayed for staff, patients and the community
  • The “transparency and honesty” of staff was appreciated, and all staff were enthusiastic, welcoming, and positive.
