A Career Built from the Ground Up

Iffat began her journey in general practice reception and medical billing, gradually progressing into operations, compliance, and ultimately practice management. Since the clinic opened in November 2020, she has been part of the Wilton community for nearly five years.

“I was drawn to rural healthcare because it offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in smaller, growing communities,” she said.

The Heart of Primary Care

For Iffat, primary care is the frontline of the health system. “It’s where prevention, early intervention and community connections happen. I wanted to be part of a team that doesn’t just treat illness, but promotes long-term wellbeing,” she explained.

Her role involves everything from HR, billing, Medicare compliance and accreditation, to ensuring smooth patient flow, infection control, and communication between clinicians and health authorities such as SWSPHN.

“Practice managers are the engine room of general practice. We work behind the scenes so clinicians can focus on care,” she said.

Collaboration and Fulfilment

Iffat views her role as a bridge between administrative and clinical teams. “My job is to remove barriers so doctors, nurses and allied health professionals can do what they do best — care for patients.”

She finds fulfilment in seeing improved patient outcomes and mentoring junior staff. “Watching my team grow and knowing we’ve made a difference in people’s lives is incredibly rewarding.”

A Strong Sense of Community

Living and working in Wilton offers Iffat the perfect balance of rural peace and growing infrastructure. “It’s a place where you really get to know your patients and their stories. The sense of community is strong, and families are engaged in their health.”

Her motivation comes from tackling rural health challenges. “There are real health gaps in rural communities. Working with SWSPHN and local services allows us to address access barriers and promote health literacy,” she said.

Educating for Better Health

The team at Wilton Doctors is proactive in preventive care and patient education, running health assessments, chronic disease reviews, immunisation programs, and community campaigns in partnership with SWSPHN.

“We’re committed to empowering patients — from young families to seniors — with the knowledge to maintain their health,” Iffat said.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking, weekend markets, and spending time with family.
