Most went to the Labor Party ($359,800), followed by the Liberal Party ($117,080), the National Party ($103,290), and the NT Country Liberal Party ($20,000).

Dr Ramya Raman from RACGP said health decisions should be evidence-based, not donor-driven. “Patients must get care based on safety and outcomes,” she said.

The largest single donations were $110,000 and $100,000 to Labor’s Federal branch just before the election. Among state branches, Labor NSW got $59,400, and WA received the largest single branch donation at $27,500.

Private Healthcare Australia was the second-largest donor in the sector at $285,250. Donations by the Guild have been higher in past election years, including $773,791 in 2018–19.

Dr Raman added that while healthcare groups work with governments, patient care must always come first. New donation reporting rules will take effect later this year, lowering the threshold to $5,000.
