PBS Adds New Prostate Cancer Treatment
02 Feb 2026
Andriga-10 combines a cancer-fighting drug, abiraterone acetate, with the steroid prednisolone to manage side effects.
It is used for castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer, a type of advanced prostate cancer that continues to grow despite hormone treatments.
Doctors say the combination is effective and convenient. “Having the tablets in one script helps patients and can reduce costs,” said Dr Michael Cilento, an oncologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Without the PBS subsidy, patients would pay about $930. In 2024, more than 2200 patients accessed a similar treatment through the PBS.
