OUR COMMITMENT TO FIRST NATIONS HEALTH
25 Oct 2023
We recognise and acknowledge the outcome of the Voice referendum and the impact the process has had on many people in the community who are feeling disappointed and hurt. The result strengthens our resolve and commitment to listen, to learn and walk with First Nations Peoples to reduce existing health inequities.
We support the right for First Nations Peoples to be heard and for self-determination, underpinned by the principles of collaboration and consultation, so that nobody experiences a life restricted by asthma.
‘First Nations asthma continues to be a priority for Asthma Australia and as an organisation we reaffirm our focus and principles of listening, partnering and allyship’ says CEO Michele Goldman. “We know the way to achieve better health outcomes with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples is to ensure people have a say in matters that affect them.”
