Newly Qualified Nurses and Midwives join Gold Coast Health

Of the new staff, 22 midwives join maternity services to help bring new life into the world.
25 registered nurses and four enrolled nurses will be caring for patients in mental health units.
The general medical and surgical wards will be in good hands, with the addition of 119 registered nurses and 20 enrolled nurses.
The new staff completed a two-week orientation, taking part in a series of clinical skills workshops, as well as mental health education, cultural competence training, and diversity and inclusion education.
Gold Coast Health is committed to increasing its workforce to meet the demand of the growing Gold Coast population.
Workforce planning has driven a year-on-year increase of newly qualified nurses and midwives.
Additional cohorts expected to join the health service throughout the year will take 2024’s intake of newly qualified nurses and midwives to more than 280.
