New animation to explain how the new Aged Care Act will put older people’s rights first
28 Jul 2025
A new animation explains how the different parts of the new Act fit together to put the rights of older people at the centre of aged care.
From 1 November this year, the new Aged Care Act will ensure the rights of older people are at the centre of aged care.
It will make the system safer, fairer and more respectful.
The new Act improves key areas of the aged care system:
- enhanced rights and more independence for older people
- stronger rules and regulations to ensure care is safe and fair
- quality care through higher standards and cultural safety
- easier access and entry to services
- more choice and transparency
- a stronger workforce with clear responsibilities.
To help you understand these changes, a new animation is available to explain how the different parts of the new Act fit together.
The animation is available in a variety of languages. It is also available in Auslan.
