NDIS seeks feedback on new planning framework

23 Jan 2026

A new planning framework is being proposed, and the agency is inviting participants and the disability community to provide feedback to help shape it.

The new framework will introduce a four-stage process for creating NDIS plans. Rules are being developed to guide how plans are made, with the aim of improving transparency, fairness, sustainability, and participant experience.

The changes are expected to roll out from mid‑2026, and will happen in stages, so many participants may not notice any immediate difference. Importantly, all new plans will still be approved by real people.

Public consultation is open until 11:30pm AEDT on 6 March 2026. Participants and the community are encouraged to review the proposed rules and share their views.
