Mighty Hoopla joins NSW drug checking trial
18 Feb 2026
The 12-month trial, which began in March 2025, has now tested 1,449 samples from 1,810 festivalgoers across 12 events. Festival attendees receive on-site analysis, safety information, and advice from trained staff and peer workers.
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the trial helps people make safer decisions, but stressed it does not guarantee safety.
The initiative follows the 2024 NSW Drug Summit’s recommendation to trial festival-based drug testing as part of harm reduction efforts.
