What to do:

  • Monitor for symptoms if you visited any of the above locations at the specified times.

  • Symptoms include: fever, cough, sore eyes, and a red, blotchy rash starting on the head and neck and spreading across the body.

  • Symptoms can appear up to 18 days after exposure, so it’s important to watch until the dates listed above.

  • Anyone who develops symptoms should call ahead to their GP or emergency department before attending, to avoid exposing others.

Vaccination reminder:

  • Measles is highly infectious but preventable with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine.

  • Everyone born in 1966 or later should have two doses.

  • Children receive free MMR at 12 and 18 months, and it is also free in NSW for adults who haven’t had two doses.

  • Children under 12 months travelling to high-risk areas may receive an early dose – speak with your GP.

  • If unsure about vaccination status, additional doses are safe and recommended, especially before travel.

  • MMR vaccine is available from GPs (all ages) and pharmacies (over 5 years old).
