Measles Alert in Western Sydney
03 Mar 2026
NSW Health says people in Western Sydney should watch for measles after a confirmed case.
The infected person hasn’t been in contact with other known cases and didn’t visit known exposure sites. But because the source is unknown, measles could be spreading in the community.
The person went to several locations in Western Sydney, including healthcare facilities. NSW Health lists these sites on their website, updated regularly.
If you were at these locations, watch for symptoms: fever, sore eyes, runny nose, cough, and after 3–4 days, a red blotchy rash starting on the face and head.
Pregnant people, those with weak immunity, or babies exposed in the last six days should contact a GP.
Everyone should check their vaccinations. The MMR vaccine is safe, effective, and free for children and anyone born after 1965 who hasn’t had two doses.
