Major Updates

Expanded Eligible Disability Definition
Patients with, or suspected of having, stuttering, speech sound disorders, and cleft lip and/or palate will now qualify for allied health assessment and treatment services.

New Patient End Support (PES) Items
Thirty-two new MBS items will allow GPs, prescribed medical practitioners, and nurse practitioners to support patients face-to-face during specialist video consultations.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessments
Items have been updated to better align age groupings and clinical requirements with national guidance.

General Medical Services

  • Administrative wording updates to consultant physician items

  • Telehealth clause amendments

  • New item for durable LVAD insertion

  • Introduction of IncobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin) for chronic sialorrhea and cerebral palsy-related spasticity

  • ECG item amendments

  • Claiming frequency restrictions for selected items

  • Additional hospital-only “(H)” flag adjustments

Diagnostic Imaging

  • Midwives and nurse practitioners can bill item 55080

  • Breast tomosynthesis added to items 59302 and 59305

Pathology

  • Brand name “Clozaril” replaced with “Clozapine”

  • Updates to patient episode initiation items
