Major Step Forward for Medication Management in Aged Care
25 Mar 2026
This achievement comes after years of collaboration between the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the Australian Digital Health Agency, working with software vendors to create systems that improve safety, make workflows easier, and reduce risks for residents.
Implementation Timeline
Residential Aged Care Homes (RACHs) must adopt electronic prescribing with conformant eNRMC systems by 31 December 2026. This allows enough time to safely migrate residents’ medication charts, reduce errors, and maintain accurate prescribing.
Next Steps
The Department will continue working with vendors and aged care organisations during the rollout to monitor any impacts and address issues. Updated conformance information will be available on the Electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) collection website.
