Laneway Festival to Offer Onsite Drug Checking
01 Feb 2026
The event is on Sunday 8 February 2026 at Centennial Park.
The trial allows trained staff to analyse a small sample of a substance and give quick results, including what’s in it and how strong it is. Patrons also get advice on reducing risks, and peer workers are available for confidential support and guidance.
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the service helps people make safer choices, but warned it does not make drug use safe.
Festival organisers said they are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all attendees.
The trial will include up to 12 music festivals this year and will be independently evaluated after February 2026. It follows recommendations from the 2024 NSW Drug Summit.
