Important Update for AMA Queensland Members
29 Jan 2026
AMA Queensland decided late last year to leave the national AMA federation. Because of this, AMA Queensland membership no longer includes membership with the federal AMA. The fees you have already paid now only cover AMA Queensland.
If you want to keep access to federal AMA benefits, you will need to renew your membership directly with the federal AMA. This can be arranged through the federal AMA Member Services team, who will provide you with a unique renewal link.
To renew your federal AMA membership, contact:

Being a federal AMA member means your voice continues to be heard at a national level as the AMA works to shape Australia’s health system. Members are part of a strong network of doctors across the country, focused on supporting the profession and improving patient care.
The federal AMA advocates for doctors on key issues including working conditions, training, workplace culture, fair pay, and the future of both primary and hospital care. It supports doctors at every stage of their career and works to ensure the health system is safe, fair and sustainable.
The AMA is Australia’s most influential medical advocacy organisation, with direct access to federal ministers, MPs and senior decision-makers. This access allows doctors’ concerns to be raised where national decisions are made.
More information is available about what has changed and what it means for members.
