Hear from the asthma experts this National Asthma Week

06 Sep 2023

It’s important to reinforce the message that asthma is a chronic disease that needs to be correctly diagnosed and treated, rather than an intermittent problem that only needs to be treated when symptoms flare up.

This National Asthma Week, the National Asthma Council’s Sensitive Choice program has created a daily video series with our health professional experts to answer questions about asthma management.

We’ve compiled the most commonly asked questions about asthma, allergies, and living with asthma, to deliver a video series that can assist in educating people about good asthma management.

For each day of National Asthma Week, our experts in asthma answer popular questions including:

  • ‘What should I do if I think I have asthma?’
  • ‘What is the difference between an asthma reliever and an asthma preventer?’
  • ‘How do my allergies impact my asthma?’
  • ‘Who needs a Written Asthma Action Plan?’
  • ‘How do I know if I’m overusing my asthma reliever medications?’

Meet the National Asthma Council Australia’s asthma experts

  • Debbie Rigby, Clinical Executive Lead at the National Asthma Council Australia.
  • Clinical Professor Sheryl Van Nunen, Clinical Immunologist and Allergist.
  • Narelle Williamson, Registered Nurse, Asthma & Respiratory Educator and Senior Clinical Consultant.
  • Dr Joel Ten, General Practitioner and National Asthma Council Australia Spokesperson.
