Have Your Say: Improving Safeguards for Australians with Disability

The two initiatives — the Disability Support Quality and Safeguarding Framework and the Disability Support Ecosystem Safeguarding Strategy — aim to:

Set consistent standards and expectations across disability support systems and services.

Empower people with disability to access safe, high-quality supports.

Create a unified, stronger approach to safeguarding across Australia.
The consultation is being led by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, with Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA) facilitating discussions alongside the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations to ensure the voices of people with disability are at the centre of this process.
Submissions are open until 22 December 2025, and can be made online in multiple formats, including Auslan and Easy Read. Free interpreting services are also available.
