Electronic National Residential Medication Charts (eNRMC) – Extension for Electronic Prescribing Compliance
21 Nov 2025
The remaining vendors have been granted an extension until 1 April 2026 to meet technical and legal requirements.
Transitional Arrangements:
-
Residential Aged Care Homes (RACHs) using non-conformant eNRMC systems may continue under the Transitional Arrangement.
-
From 1 April 2026, medication orders created using non-conformant systems will require duplicate PBS prescriptions.
-
Clinicians and pharmacists using non-conformant systems must continue to manage any potential clinical risks.
Implementation Timeline:
The overall deadline for RACHs to adopt fully conformant eNRMC systems remains 31 December 2026. This timeframe accounts for the complexity of migrating all residents’ medication charts while ensuring operational safety, continuity of care, and legislative compliance.
Next Steps:
The Department of Health and the Australian Digital Health Agency will continue working with vendors to achieve conformance and with aged care peak bodies to monitor sector impacts.
Updated resources reflecting the revised deadlines will be made available soon via the [eNRMC collection on the Department’s website].
