Cricket, community and care come together at Royal Hobart Hospital

Established by Tasmanian cricket great Ricky Ponting and his wife Rianna, the Ponting Foundation supports young Tasmanians living with cancer. Through its partnership with the Hobart Hurricanes and the Department of Health, the foundation is focused on helping families affected by childhood cancer access treatment and support closer to home.

The fundraising match between the Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat saw $5 from every ticket sold go directly to the foundation, along with a share of hospitality sales and additional donations made on the night.

During the hospital visit, Ricky Ponting, Hurricanes players and fan-favourite Captain Hurricane spent time in the Children and Adolescents’ Ward, lifting spirits and creating special moments for children and their loved ones.

Royal Hobart Hospital said it is proud to continue its strong partnership with the Hurricanes and the Ponting Foundation in supporting Tasmanians impacted by cancer.
