Bulk-Billing GP Visits Up to 81% Nationwide
11 Feb 2026
The national bulk-billing rate rose to 81.4% between November 2025 and January 2026.
Over 3,400 practices now bulk bill, including 1,269 clinics that used to mix bill. All states and territories have seen increases.
RACGP President Dr Michael Wright said it’s good news for patients but stressed that GPs must be supported financially, especially for longer or complex appointments.
Federal Health Minister Mark Butler said bulk billing helps patients and works for doctors too.
New laws are also planned to make specialist fees more transparent, helping patients compare gap fees online, while keeping conversations about costs between doctors and patients.
