22 Oct 2025
The program offers funding for mental health nurses, allied health professionals, alcohol and other drug (AOD) practitioners, and lived and living experience workers (LLEWs) to help ease the cost of study and strengthen the state’s mental health workforce.
Scholarships include:
-
Up to $13,000 for allied health, AOD and LLEW study
-
$3,000 contributions for postgraduate mental health nursing
-
Full-fee coverage for Graduate Diplomas and Masters in Mental Health Nursing
Registered nurse Rachel Griffiths, a past recipient, said her scholarship encouraged her to complete a Master of Mental Health Nursing — an experience that broadened her skills and opened new professional opportunities.
The program, delivered by the Department of Government Services in partnership with The Collective, aims to build a skilled, diverse and supported mental health workforce. It aligns with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy 2021–2024, and directly supports recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
In 2024–25, 496 scholarships were awarded, contributing to a 25% growth in Victoria’s mental health workforce.
Applications are now open for 2025–26.
