ANSC Skills Day Offers Expert Training for GPs in South Western Sydney

GPs participating in the workshop practised abdominal palpation using a simulation mannequin and received updates on aneuploidy screening and the escalation process for deviations from normal pregnancy findings.
A session on lactation principles provided guidance on addressing infant feeding concerns, empowering ANSC providers to better support women in their postnatal feeding journey.

Professor Jon Hyett, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Western Sydney University and clinical academic specialist in obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine, leading the Academic Obstetric Research Group at the Ingham Institute

Amanda Ritchie, international board-certified lactation consultant and clinical midwife consultant at South Western Sydney LHD (SWSLHD)

Rebecca Bedding and Wendy Pickup, clinical midwife consultants for the South Western Sydney GP ANSC Program
The presenters also provided updates on gestational diabetes mellitus assessment requirements and recent changes in the ANSC program for South Western Sydney.
Participants praised the high-quality information, practical demonstrations, and opportunities for face-to-face learning.

ANSC providers are reminded to renew their registration by 31 October to maintain their provider status for 2026.
