The strategy focuses on three main priorities:
-
Preventing harm to patients.
-
Creating a culturally safe system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
-
Ensuring a sustainable health workforce.
The strategy also promises to listen to communities, making interactions with the National Scheme timely, clear, and empathetic.
Ahpra CEO Justin Untersteiner said:
“Public protection is our core focus. But to stay relevant, we must also evolve with changes in healthcare, technology, and society.”
Ahpra Board Chair Gill Callister added that collaboration and partnerships across the health system are essential for safe, skilled, and supported practitioners.
